Halloween, what a fun time of year for me. Before we had people sticking foreign objects in candy, and trying to go crazy on halloween, there was a simpler time when Halloween was an innocent holiday to have fun for kids and eat lots of candy. Before all of the churches had to get involved and have what’s called a “Fall Get-Together” or whatever they call it, we kids would roam the streets on halloween in an innocent manner looking at friend’s costumes and figuring out how to scare each other and people we would knowck on the door and say “trick or treat.”
My sister Bobbie and I would usually go trick or treating together, and since she was older, she was the protector (if we really needed one) and she was the boss. We would go to neighbors houses for the quest for candy. I usually had the Hobo costume, (imagine that lol) and it was usually home-made too.

About the only time I ever came close to getting into any trouble on Halloween was when I almost got caught stealing apples of Mr. Nichol’s apple tree on Neff street in Sweetwater. Other than that, it was just a fright fest for me and my sister. We always had fun on Halloween.
As I got older and had kids of my own, I tried like hell to let my kids share in the same fun that I enjoyed as a kid. Usually, I would take lacey out early to trick-or-treat, and then we would get home and she would help me pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters that came to our door. We had loads of fun with that as well. I’ll never forget one year, I brought this album home to play in the back ground while we passed out candy.

Well, so much for all of that.
