What now Cowboys?

Before anyone thinks differently, I am known as the “Classic” Cowboys fan. What that means is, I have paid my dues as a fan. I’ve seen or listened to every game in Cowboys history. I was there in the early ’60’s just paying my dues until the Cowboys won a freaking game. And then in 1966 we started to win some and actually started to play with the big boys in New York and Green Bay.

We (I refer we as Cowboys fans, players, coaches, everyone that is on the Cowboys team) had consistency in Tex Schramm and Tom Landry rest their souls. I guaran damn tee you, if a team lost on Landry’s watch, he didn’t go before the camera and act as if everything was ok. He was pissed and if you were a player, you had better watch out the next week. They say Landry could just look at you and send chills up your spine. Back then, you either did it Landry’s way, or you were gone pretty quickly.

Let me also mention here, that as much of a Cowboys fan I am, I don’t automatically think everything is hunky dorey just because there is a star on the helment of our players. We have serious problems within this franchise, and I think it’s pretty evident that even though we have some great athletes, we don’t play as a team, otherwise, we wouldn’t be getting our ass handed to us each week.

Let’s start with Tony Romo. Have you seen how many turn-overs he’s had this season? Should we have given him such a large contract for such a long period of time? Does this guy focus anymore? Does he need to get rid of a certain girl friend? Why is he playing worse than when he first started games 2 years ago? Why?

I don’t know what the answer is. I don’t know what the solutions are, but then again, I don’t get paid millions of dollars to fix it either. All I do know is that in almost 50 years of watching Cowboys football, the 2008 version may be the worst version of Cowboys I have ever seen. Why? Because of the great talent we have making bone-headed plays week after week. At least in 1989 we could say we didn’t have the athletes. There isn’t any excuse now.
