As you may or may not have heard, the Giants released Plaxico Burress today.
When I read the story of Plax’s release, I felt a twinge like Jerry would definitely be interested in entertaining the thought of signing the wide receiver.
And then logic took over and I felt a calm come over me knowing that Jerry would NOT sign Burress. Why? Because Burress is in the middle of a whole bunch of legal troubles.
He faces a felony weapons charge that could put him in prison for at least 3 1/2 years if convicted.
The 31-year-old Burress, who was suspended by the Giants for the final four weeks of the season for conduct detrimental to the team and fined after the shooting, also faces possible NFL sanctions for violating its personal conduct policy.
Say what you will about Terrell Owens, but at least he was never in any legal trouble while he was in Dallas. And Jerry just let him go. Don’t expect Jerry to be interested in a guy that might be in prison in the future.
(UPDATE) I guess Jean Jaques Taylor reads my blog.
