Deion Sanders Puts Pads up for Sale

The post went up nearly a week ago. Move.com has pics of the two places Deion has on the market. Looking to live way north of town and price is no object? His Prosper mansion is listed at $21 million. If, however, you want to live near downtown Dallas and you’re on a budget, his Azure condo is listed at $7.5 million.

He has made history with his interceptions and kick returns as a cornerback and sometime wide receiver, and now Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders has two homes listed on REALTOR.com®

The two properties are both in Texas, with his Prosper home listed at $21 million, and his Dallas home listed at $7.5 million.

Detroit Lion Excitement?

It’s not easy being a Detroit Lions fan, there’s been a lot of losing over the years but things seem to be looking up as the team won their last 4 games to finish 6-10. Some genius out there recently took the audio from the Chrysler commercial with Eminem that aired during the Super Bowl and combined it with some great Lion footage.

If this doesn’t get excited for the next Lions’ season (if there is one) then I don’t know what will.

The Snowy Knoll Theory

Good morning from snowed in north Texas, home of Super Bowl XLV.

Does anyone remember the 70 degree temperature here last week?

The mood was excellent for a Super Bowl. The Super Bowl teams arrived and not 60 minutes later, we all were iced/snowed in here and it hasn’t let up yet.  Not to worry saith the weather people, 50′s on Saturday and near 60 for Super Bowl Sunday. I call bull! After another 2-4 inches of overnight snow, now the weather gurus are saying 40′s for the Super Bowl.

You mean these weather people get paid ultra big bucks and get media passes to the Super Bowl, and are just as good as I am at predicting the weather? Pashaaa!

Did Jerry Jones and the NFL coerce the weather people to say it’s all ok, come on to Texas and spend money? It’s a theory.

Gee, is it Monday already?

I had a blast this weekend, I could have used a few more days off with this great weather we are getting.

The Cowboys had a pretty good draft weekend, the Rangers came back home to some home cooking and took 2 of 3 from the Tigers and finishing up the four game sries tonight. The Mavericks? Eh, maybe next year as usual.

I read this story from my friend Rick Chandler’s blog this morning and it cracked me up. Seriously, how could someone be this stupid?

It occurs to me that Twitter has become somewhat of an ersatz lie detector test; a lot of our thoughts travel unabated from out brain to our thumbs and out into the atmosphere, before we even realize it. “Where u at?” “I’m so happy rite now”. “Congrats to all the dirty mexicans in San Antonio”. Oops. Mike Bacsik is a former journeyman pitcher, somewhat famous only because he gave up Barry Bonds’ 756th homer in 2007, which broke Hank Aaron’s all-time record. He’s currently the producer on The Ticket 1310 radio in Dallas for Norm Hitzges, and occasionally shows up on the air. Moments after the Dallas Mavericks were beaten by the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of their playoff series on Sunday, Bacsik favored his followers with this tweet. Then realizing what he’d done, he deleted it — plus a bunch of others — but it was too late. This was forwarded to me by Sports Grind Entertainment, one of many I’m sure who have immortalized the tweet in screen grab form.

Someone has already altered his Wikipedia page, and not in a good way (see Early Years. UPDATE: Someone has removed the line “he’s a racist.”). Fun fact: Bacsik’s father, Michael James Bacsik, was also a major league pitcher, and faced Aaron twice after he had hit his 755th homer. But Bacsik gave up a single and got a fly out. It would be up to his son to give someone No. 756.

That’s too funny!

We are getting some interest in the new Facebook site, Starving Writers. If you know of anyone that fancys themselves as a poet, or writer, or any type of multi-media type artist, send em over. Have a great day and we’ll see ya.

UPDATE::::::: See? You always reap what ya sow!!

What is going on in sports these days?

Sports are mostly tales of pride and accomplishments by individuals.  Sports is a place whereby if things are going lousy with the economy or whatever, you can always turn to sports to take your mind off of a losing stock market, unemployment, or the latest in company closings. At least it used to be that way in sports.

These days, there is no place to turn to get a break from bad news, even in sports. From Michael Phelps and his bong to countless other stories from the world of sports, there is no escape from bad news today. Let’s take a look at some sports stories that are pretty recent bad news stories in sports. Incidently, there were several stories with Texas ties.

Alex Rodriguez and steroids:

Alex Rodriguez tested positive for anabolic steroids in 2003, when he was with the Texas Rangers and won the AL home run title and MVP award, according to a report by Sports Illustrated.

According to the report, which was posted Saturday morning on SI.com, sources told the publication that Rodriguez was on a list of 104 players who tested positive that year, when Major League Baseball conducted survey tests to see if mandatory, random drug-testing was needed.

Sources who know about the testing results told Sports Illustrated that Rodriguez tested positive for testosterone and Primobolan, an anabolic steroid.

In 2003, there were no penalties for a positive result.

Even as I am writing this entry I see this on ESPN:

Jamal Anderson in jail onn drug charges

area jail late Saturday night on a felony possession-of-cocaine charge and possession-of-marijuana charge, a misdemeanor.

Anderson

Anderson

Anderson, an NFL analyst for ESPN’s First Take this past season, was booked into the Fulton County jail in Georgia and denied bond.

His first hearing was set for Monday morning, the Fulton County sheriff’s office said Sunday.

Anderson, 36, was arrested at the Peachtree Tavern in the community of Buckhead after an off-duty officer working security at the club alerted police, according to The Associated Press, citing a police spokesman.

Police found a suspected marijuana cigarette in Anderson’s pocket, local reports said. Another man with Anderson was also arrested. Police said both men were in possession of cocaine, according to the reports.

“We just learned of this situation, and it is not appropriate for us to comment until we have more information,” said George McNeilly, senior director of communications at ESPN, in a statement.

Amazing.

It seems like drugs played a big part in all three of these stories. Why do athletes do drugs so bad? Is that the normal culture of society today? Is this a  mirror of today’s society in America? Pop a pill, feel better?

I’ve done alot of bad things in my life, but I am very thankful drugs wasn’t one of them.
