Details emerging on McNair murder

According to USAToday, it appears that Steve McNair was involved in a relationship outside of his marriage and the “other” woman had a possible ax to grind that led to McNair’s murder.

Forgive me for noticing that the game of football had given Steve McNair a college education, a great pro football career and the money that goes with that, a family and no telling what else, only to be taken down by a waitress at a Dave and Buster’s. Sad.

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was shot multiple times, including once in the head, and a pistol was discovered near the body of the 20-year-old woman found dead with him Saturday in a downtown condominium. Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron identified the woman as Sahel Kazemi, whom he called a “friend” of McNair’s. She had a single gunshot wound to the head.

When will people learn?

Aaron said McNair’s wife, Mechelle, is “very distraught.”

I wonder if she knew? I wonder if she knew about “her”?

“At this juncture, we do not believe she is involved,” he said. “Nothing has been ruled out, but as far as actively looking for a suspect tonight, the answer would be no.”

Wow.

The bodies were discovered Saturday afternoon by McNair’s longtime friend Wayne Neeley, who said he rents the condo with McNair.

Aaron said Neeley told authorities he went into the condo, saw McNair on the sofa and Kazemi on the floor but walked first into the kitchen before going back into the living room, where he saw the blood.

Neeley then called a friend, who alerted authorities.

Police said a witness saw McNair arrive at the condo between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Saturday and that Kazemi’s vehicle was already there.

Two days ago, Nashville police arrested Kazemi on a DUI charge while driving a 2007 Escalade registered to her and McNair. McNair was in the front seat, but didn’t break the law and was allowed to leave by taxi.

Keith Norfleet, Kazemi’s boyfriend for four years before they broke up five months ago, said he came to pick up the car for Kazemi. Norfleet said McNair was in the car with her when the stop occurred, a fact that was not in the police affidavit but was confirmed by police Saturday night.

McNair later bailed Kazemi out, according to bail bondsmen. Norfleet said she told him she was seeing McNair, who she met while working as a waitress at Dave & Busters.

He was worried about her dating a married man and hopeful they’d get back together. They had been living together for four years, since they moved from her family’s home in Jacksonville, Fla., to Nashville.

“She is the sweetest girl, and she did not deserve this,” Norfleet said upon learning of her death. “He was making her believe they were going to be together, and everything would be perfect.”

So here we have an ex-boyfriend, we have a lady who portrayed the “other woman” who was being strung along in a relationship outside of marriage, and a distraught wife who was at home waiting for her husband.

Life gets complicated doesn’t it?

And what is it about high-profile athletes and high-profile entertainers? Even though they are caught red-handed in promiscuity, they will be worshiped as some sort of saint. If the rest of us did this, people would just say we got what we deserved. Money sure has a way of making people adjust their thinking about us, right?
