Grand Prairie AirHog doing well in Australia

Even though it’s just a few weeks until Christmas, there is baseball news. They are in the middle of a basball season in Australia, and one of the Grand Prairie Airhogs, Daniel Schmidt, is having quiet a year down under.

From the West Australian:

The 22-year-old has carried Perth Heat‘s pitching this season, giving up runs in just two of the 27 innings he has been on the mound.

He leads the ABL in wins and has a strike-out/walk ratio that is certain to attract the attention of US Major League scouts following the rebirth of the ABL competition.

Schmidt is scheduled to come back to the AirHogs in 2011, to play another season at QuickTrip Park in Grand Prairie. That’s if he doesn’t get picked up by a Major League team before that.

Good luck Daniel, great to see you doing well mate!
