Can the 49ers be serious?

The age of the high-priced NFL recruit just got a little bigger when the San Francisco 49ers didn’t like the answer they got from Matthew Stafford about his parents divorce.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Stafford was uncomfortable answering questions at the NFL combine from a 49ers psychologist regarding his parents’ divorce. Niners coach Mike Singletary told KNBR-AM in San Francisco this week “if you’re going to look at drafting a guy in the first round, and you’re going to pay him millions of dollars, and asking him about a divorce, about his parents, if that’s going to be an issue, uhhh, then you know what? Maybe he doesn’t belong here.”

Stafford told the Detroit Free Press that the psychologist presumed Stafford had “unfinished business” about his parents’ split while he was in high school. He said he didn’t and asked how much the doctor was being paid for the analysis.

Wow, I find this unbelievable. It’s not like the 49ers have a great quarterback in place already.
